Free URL Encoder / Decoder: 2 Component Conversion Modes

KHIYALEE / FREE DEVELOPER TOOLS

URL encoder: Convert a query value or another URL component into percent-encoded text, or decode an encoded component. Urdu characters, spaces and reserved symbols can be handled by the browser. This tool uses component encoding rather than preserving the separators of a complete URL.

This tool processes inputs in your browser. It does not send them to an external processing service or save them. Normal site visits remain subject to the privacy policy.

How to use the URL encoder

  1. Choose Encode component or Decode component.
  2. Paste one query value or URL component.
  3. Convert and inspect reserved characters such as ampersands.
  4. Insert the encoded value into the intended part of your URL.

Worked example

“hello world” becomes hello%20world. A value containing “a&b” becomes a%26b, so the ampersand is kept inside the value rather than starting another query parameter.

URL Encoder & Decoder: understand the result

Encode the value, not the URL structure

A URL uses separators such as colon, slash, question mark and ampersand to describe its structure. Component encoding escapes those characters. If you paste a complete URL, the output is suitable only when that entire URL is itself a parameter value, such as a redirect target. Do not replace a normal clickable URL with its fully component-encoded version.

Spaces, plus signs and double encoding

This tool represents a space as %20 and a literal plus sign as %2B. Some form submissions use plus to represent a space, but the decoder here does not apply form-specific plus conversion. Encoding an already encoded value can turn % into %25; decode and inspect the original value before applying another encoding pass.

Urdu and international text in parameters

Urdu letters are encoded from Unicode text using the browser’s UTF-8 handling. The decoded output should match the original sentence. Keep the surrounding query syntax separate, and test the destination with the final assembled link. The converter does not shorten links, verify a website or decide which parameter names an application expects.

Use the URL encoder on mobile or desktop

The URL encoder controls adapt to the available screen width. On a phone, fields stack vertically; on a wider screen they stay grouped together. Choose the mode first, read the input labels, and then generate the result. The Copy result button copies the output if your browser allows clipboard access. If permission is unavailable, the output is selected so that you can copy it manually.

Keep a copy of any important input in your own document before resetting or leaving the page. Reset restores the starting controls and clears the displayed output; it does not create an undo history. The tool does not retain previous results, compare them with a database or submit them to another application for you.

After copying, check the result in the destination where you intend to use it. Preserve meaningful units, labels and exact characters. A browser calculation or conversion can be correct while a separate form, document or production process expects a different input format. Use the example above to understand the operation before relying on your own result.

URL Encoder & Decoder: frequently asked questions

Does this encode a complete URL safely?

It encodes a component. Use a full URL only when the whole URL is a parameter value.

Does a plus sign decode as a space?

No. This decoder preserves a literal plus sign.

Why is decoding rejected?

An incomplete percent sequence or invalid UTF-8 sequence can fail decoding.
