Estimate a reading or speech duration
Paste a complete draft and enter a words-per-minute rate based on your own pace. Select Calculate to see a word count and estimated duration. The starting value of 150 words per minute is an editable example, not a measured average for Urdu readers.
Formula and example
Estimated seconds = word count ÷ words per minute × 60, rounded up to a whole second. A 450-word speech at 150 words per minute takes about 3 minutes before pauses. At 100 words per minute, the same words take about 4 minutes 30 seconds.
Choose a pace by timing yourself
Read a representative passage aloud and measure the time. Divide its word count by the minutes used, then enter that rate. Use a separate pace for silent reading. Audience interaction, explanations, difficult names and presentation pauses can all make a real speech longer than the arithmetic estimate.
Urdu word-count limitations
The counter groups runs of letters and numbers, keeping combining marks with their letters. Urdu spacing conventions, compound words and text copied from PDFs can change the count. This is a practical estimate rather than linguistic tokenization. It does not estimate Quran recitation duration or prescribe a recitation speed.
