Free CSS Gradient Generator: 2-Color Linear Gradients

KHIYALEE / FREE DESIGN TOOLS

CSS gradient generator: Build a two-colour linear gradient for a web background. Choose the start and end colours, set an angle from 0 to 360 degrees, and copy the generated CSS declaration. The preview shows the selected combination without downloading an image or using an external processing service.

How to use the CSS gradient generator

  1. Choose the two colour stops.
  2. Set the direction angle in degrees.
  3. Generate the preview and CSS declaration.
  4. Paste the declaration into an appropriate CSS rule and test the surrounding text.

Worked example

Two chosen colours and a 90-degree angle produce a declaration such as background: linear-gradient(90deg, #d42151, #202b3c);. A 90-degree direction moves from left to right in CSS.

CSS Gradient Generator: understand the result

Angle controls direction

CSS gradient angles describe the direction of the gradient line. Zero degrees points upward and 90 degrees points right. Try an angle with your actual container dimensions, because a wide hero and a square card can make the same two colours feel different. The tool uses two stops only and does not generate radial or conic gradients.

Use the output inside a CSS rule

The generated output is one property declaration, not a complete HTML page. Place it inside a selector that targets the intended element. Existing background rules may override it depending on specificity and order. Keep a plain colour fallback if you need one, and check that the gradient is visible rather than covered by another background image.

Readability is more important than decoration

A gradient can vary behind different parts of a headline. Check the weakest contrast area instead of judging only one corner. Avoid placing small text over a high-contrast colour transition, and keep buttons distinct from the background. CSS gradients scale cleanly, but large layered visual effects can still complicate a design unnecessarily.

Use the CSS gradient generator on mobile or desktop

The CSS gradient generator controls adapt to the available screen width. On a phone, fields stack vertically; on a wider screen they stay grouped together. Choose the mode first, read the input labels, and then generate the result. The Copy result button copies the output if your browser allows clipboard access. If permission is unavailable, the output is selected so that you can copy it manually.

Keep a copy of any important input in your own document before resetting or leaving the page. Reset restores the starting controls and clears the displayed output; it does not create an undo history. The tool does not retain previous results, compare them with a database or submit them to another application for you.

After copying, check the result in the destination where you intend to use it. Preserve meaningful units, labels and exact characters. A browser calculation or conversion can be correct while a separate form, document or production process expects a different input format. Use the example above to understand the operation before relying on your own result.
