How to Find a Quran Ayah Reference in Urdu & English

Quran Ayat Finder for Arabic, Urdu and English readers

A Quran citation such as 2:255 gives you a precise place to begin reading. This guide shows Pakistani Urdu and English readers how to read Arabic Quran verses with Urdu and English translations on Khiyalee, use the Quran Ayat Finder, and open source tafsir for context.

Use the Quran Ayat Finder →

Start with a complete reference

The first number identifies the Surah, and the second identifies the Ayah. In 2:255, 2 means Surah Al-Baqarah and 255 means its verse number. Choose the Surah from its numbered name list, then select an Ayah. The Ayah list automatically matches that Surah. You can also enter 2:255 or ۲:۲۵۵.

Use the finder step by step

  1. Open the tool using the button above.
  2. Choose a Surah and Ayah from the dropdown lists, or enter Surah:Ayah in the reference field.
  3. Press Read Arabic & translations. The first use loads an approximately 3.5 MB Quran library from Khiyalee; later selections reuse it during this visit.
  4. Read the full Arabic verse, Urdu translation and English translation here. Expand the translation notes where provided.
  5. Use Learn more / Tafsir to open the same verse on Quran.com for context and available tafsir.
  6. Copy the reference if you want to keep a link with your notes.

Read translations with their attribution

A translation communicates meaning across languages; it is not the original Arabic. Check the translator’s name on the source before quoting or comparing wording. Urdu helps many Pakistani readers understand a passage, while English may be useful for study or sharing with relatives. Keep both the reference and translator attribution when applicable.

The reader does not generate religious text or use machine translation. Urdu meanings are by Muhammad Ibrahim Junagarhi, developed under Rowwad Translation Center; English meanings are by Rowwad Translation Center. QuranEnc.com supplies the attributed translations and notes. Arabic text is the Uthmani edition supplied through Al Quran Cloud / Islamic Network. Source credits and edition dates are shown on the tool. You can also open Quran.com to explore the surrounding verses and available tafsir.

Check context before making a card or post

Read the verses before and after your selected Ayah. A short phrase separated from its passage can omit who is speaking or what is being discussed. Use tafsir for explanation rather than treating a brief translation as the entire context.

If you create a shareable graphic, keep the source visible. Do not add a promised reward, a fixed recitation count or a particular outcome unless the checked source supports that claim. A personal greeting should be labelled as your own wording rather than attributed to scripture.

Examples to try

Try 2:255 for Ayatul Kursi, 2:201 for the verse containing the supplication for good in both worlds, or 1:6 for the request for guidance. These references help you begin; read the full verse on the source before copying an excerpt.

Common mistakes and how to resolve them

If a reference is rejected, check that your Surah is between 1 and 114 and that the Ayah exists in that Surah. The finder checks the common ayah count before preparing a link. It does not accept verse ranges or sentence searches.

For a sentence with no known reference, use the source website’s search. Do not select the first result based only on a few matching words; compare the whole passage and its attribution.

Privacy, speed and mobile use

The reader runs without an external processing API or account. Its compressed Quran library (about 3.5 MB) loads from Khiyalee only when you use the reader. The page does not preload that library. The decoded chapter stays in memory for this visit; reopening the page may require downloading the library again. It does not save your reference in a user account or browser storage. Standard site analytics and advertising may still apply. The source website has its own privacy practices once opened.

Controls stack on smaller screens, and buttons have generous tap areas. Use the source website’s text-size options if Arabic diacritics or Urdu lines are difficult to read. Keep the original source link rather than sharing a low-resolution screenshot as the only reference.
